As the Miami Dolphins go through the rest of their season, they seem to be biding time until they get their starting quarterback to return. They have announced that they expect Tua Tagovailoa to play again this season, even though it won't be this coming week.

NFL insider Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team reported the news on social media.

Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2 of the season against the Buffalo Bills and has been out since. There was some thought that he may not be able to return this season but that got pushed down fairly quickly.

It was reported that he wasn't planning on retiring and that he was working his way back onto the field. Miami also said that Tagovailoa was expected to return at some point this year and now it seems that it will happen in the next few weeks.

The NFL said recently that they won't interfere with the return of Tagovailoa and that they would let the process play out. NFL chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills spoke to reporters to clear the air.

"Patient autonomy and medical decision-making really matters," Sills said. "And I think that's what we have to recognize goes on with our concussion protocol as well. Ultimately when patients make decisions about considering their careers, it has to reflect that autonomy that's generated from discussions with medical experts giving them best medical advice."

Getting Tagovailoa back would be a massive victory for the Dolphins. Not only would it be a great sign for his overall health but also for the team as they looked to get their season back on track.

Tagovailoa is one of the leaders on this team so his absence has been telling.

Without their starting quarterback, Miami has sputtered on the offensive end of the field. It would be a welcomed sign to have him return and their Super Bowl aspirations would return as well.

The Dolphins currently hold a record of 2-3 on the season and are completing their bye week right now. They will take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7, looking to right the ship.

If they can take down the Colts, it would open up the window for Tagovailoa to return. They then match up against the Arizona Cardinals, giving themselves a good chance to get back over the .500 mark.
