Heading into the 2025 season, the Philadelphia Eagles had arguably one of the NFL's deepest rosters. Following their strong start to the year, Howie Roseman continues to find ways to improve in the margins.
In their opening matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, the reigning champs were able to kick the year off in the win column. Now, they prepare for their first notable showdown of the season. In Week 2, Philadelphia will face off against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of last year's Super Bowl.
Amid some recent developments, it appears that the Eagles will have more offensive weapons at their disposal in this high-profile showdown.

Eagles acquire RB Tank Bigsby in trade with Jacksonville Jaguars
On Monday evening, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Roseman's latest dealings. The Eagles have acquired running back Tank Bigsby from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a fifth and sixth-round pick in the 2026 draft.

Bigsby, 24, was a third-round pick by the Jaguars in the 2023 draft. Across 34 appearances for the team, he totaled 910 yards and nine touchdowns.
Now, Bigsby will have a chance to share the backfield with one of the league's top running backs in Saquon Barkley. Monday's trade raises concerns about the health of rookie Will Shipley, who had three carries for 26 yards against the Cowboys before leaving in the second half with a rib injury.
The Bigsby trade is the second notable running back move the Eagles made on Monday. They also signed Montrell Johnson to the practice squad, and he could be elevated to the 53-man roster on Sunday if Bigsby isn't ready to play.
As of now, it is unclear if Bigsby will be available for the Eagles when they take on the Chiefs on Sunday. He had five carries for Jacksonville Week 1 and totaled just 12 yards.
This trade is the latest dealing in what has been a flurry of moves for the Eagles in the past month. Among their other noteworthy dealings were trades for wide receiver John Metchie and quarterback Sam Howell.
Last season, Bigsby showed a lot of promise as a viable backfield option. Across 16 games for the Jaguars, he racked up 820 scrimmage yards (766 rushing, 54 receiving).
Looking at the depth chart, the Eagles now have three threats coming out of the backfield. Bigsby will likely slot in behind Will Shipley, but could eventually become Barkley's primary backup over the course of the year.
Armed with an array of future draft picks, countless reports stated that Roseman could be aggressive in the trade market. His latest addition should only help the Eagles in their quest for a second straight title.
Offense isn't the place the Eagles made a notable addition either. On Friday, Philadelphia signed former Pro Bowl edge-rusher Za'Darius Smith, who logged 35 tackles, 17 QB hits, nine sacks, and nine tackles for loss last season with the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions.
The Eagles also added linebacker Patrick Johnson to the active roster on Monday, making it clear they're loading up for Sunday's Super Bowl rematch.
