Smith has been dealing with a hamstring issue for the last several weeks and was listed as questionable on the Eagles' final injury report earlier this week after missing Wednesday's practice and being limited on Thursday and Friday.

Now, it seems the star WR has been ruled out for today's game against the Ravens. Smith's absence leaves the Eagles short-handed at wide receiver, especially with Johnny Wilson also sidelined.

Philadelphia's remaining options at receiver are A.J. Brown, Jahan Dotson, Britain Covey, Ainias Smith, and Parris Campbell. To compensate, the Eagles may focus more on their running game and increase the use of two-tight-end sets.

With a 9-2 record, Philadelphia is in a tight battle for the NFC's No. 1 seed, trailing only the Lions. While teams typically err on the side of caution with hamstring injuries, the Eagles' playoff push may influence their decision to rest Smith for another week at a critical juncture in the season.

Smith played college football at Alabama and he became one of the most decorated receivers in school history. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2020, becoming the first wide receiver in more than two decades to claim the award. He was a key figure in Alabama's 2020 national championship win, posting a record-breaking performance in the title game.

Selected by the Eagles with the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Smith made an immediate impact, finishing his rookie season with 64 receptions for 916 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Smith holds Eagles franchise records for the most receptions (240) and receiving yards (3,178) through his first three seasons. In 2022, he set a new milestone by recording the third-highest single-season reception total in team history with 95 catches.

Additionally, Smith is just 61 receiving yards away from breaking Harold Carmichael's record for the most receiving yards in Eagles playoff history.

Since the 2022 season, Smith has joined an elite group of just seven NFL receivers who have surpassed 175 receptions, 2,500 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns, cementing his status as one of the league's top playmakers.

While the Eagles may be able to get by without him against the Ravens tonight, they will be missing a crucial element until his hamstring recovers.
