Oddly enough, there have been many questions regarding Jets head coach Aaron Glenn moving on from Fields. Following the team's Week 6 loss, Glenn balked at the idea of benching Fields over "one bad game."
Now, Glenn has made the decision to try and see if Taylor can get the offense going. Fields went 6-for-12 on passes for 48 yards through the first half.
Taylor currently has 3-for-4 attempts and 26 yards, at the time of this writing.
The Jets are currently 0-6 on the season, and they are behind against the Panthers, prompting Glenn to make a huge decision. This decision could save his season as the team's head coach, especially if Taylor can start to get things going and pull out a win.
This is just speculation, but Glenn's first year as a head coach has not been off to a great start. The Jets continue to be pummeled by opponents, and they are currently down 10 points in Week 7. The Jets need a win, and the hope for Glenn and company can provide that with Taylor under Center.
New York is a team to watch ahead of the trade deadline. With plenty of teams targeting running back Breece Hall, a fire sale could be incoming for the struggling AFC squad.
Should the Jets pull off a win against the Panthers, this could also provide the confidence needed for the team to cotinue on without getting rid of their most important stars.
Either way, it appears that Fields' time as the starting quarterback is over.
