After a surprising 2-4 start to the season for a trendy preseason favorite to win the Super Bowl, the Los Angeles Rams needed Matthew Stafford to have a big game during Sunday's Week 7 contest on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The 2025 NFL MVP responded in a big way in the first half by playing some of his best football of the campaign, and made league history along the way as the Rams built up a 28-3 lead by halftime over the 3-3 Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.
In the first half, Stafford went 17 of 19 passing for 148 yards and three touchdowns. Per Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team, Stafford became the all-time leader in passing touchdowns for the Rams at 155 touchdown passes. He already led the Detroit Lions all-time in passing touchdowns (282). He became the first quarterback in NFL history to have a career touchdown pass record for two league teams.

Stafford played 12 seasons for the Lions. He broke the record with the Rams in just his sixth season with Los Angeles.
In October of 2025, Stafford was asked about leading the league in passing yards. Per the Los Angeles Times, Stafford said he didn't care about the stats. He's more worried about trying to put up points with the Rams.
“I don’t think too much about that,” Stafford said. “Maybe some other time when I’m done playing this game. But no, I’m just trying to get us in the end zone and score as many points as I can.”
Through his first six games of the season, Stafford threw for 1,794 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. The No. 1 pick by the Lions in the 2009 draft is still capable of playing at a high level despite being 38 years old.
