The New England Patriots suffered a disappointing season-opening loss to the Seattle Seahawks, 13-10, and head coach Mike Vrabel delivered a "broken record" message at the postgame press conference.

Quarterback Drake Maye had a chance to lead his team to the game-winning touchdown and had them at least in position for a field goal to tie things up. However, his attempt to find a teammate at the side of the end zone was picked off with 21 seconds remaining, giving Seattle the win.

Vrabel explained that games are won in the fourth quarter, and his team needs to get a handle on both sides of the ball to win games late.

"We can’t turn the ball over, and we have to create more turnovers," Vrabel said of his team's issues in the second half. "Again, it's a broken record, but we gotta have a chance. We gotta be great in that situation."

Maye threw one touchdown in the game, but also three costly interceptions. All of them occurred in the fourth quarter, including that late-game end-zone pass that was picked off.

"You can't throw three interceptions. Drake knows that," Vrabel said, also adding, "We put ourselves in some long-yardage situations on the one that were probably forced, and I think the guy made a great play on the last one."

Maye certainly had his team in a great position, but made a terrible decision with his attempt at late-game heroics. However, Vrabel expressed confidence in his quarterback moving forward.

"It's a long season; we're going to hold our head up high. We have nothing but the utmost confidence in him," Vrabel said, per ESPN. "He's going to make a lot of plays for us."

New England entered the game as underdogs, but quickly took over a lead, going up 7-0, and later 10-0. However, Seattle's defense came through with key plays, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba's second-half touchdown helped Seattle claw back into the game.

Maye and the Patriots will look to bounce back with a win, when they return home to host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 20.
