The New York Jets will bring back a familiar face in 2026 after nearly a decade away from the team.
A former third-round draft pick in 2012, linebacker Demario Davis has agreed to sign with the Jets, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday. The Jets offered him a two-year, $22 million contract, and Davis will receive $15 million fully guaranteed.
Davis, who last played for the New Orleans Saints from 2018 to 2025, spent the first four years of his career with the Jets before he signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2016. He returned to the Jets via trade in 2017 but left again in free agency for the Saints.

His 2017 season was his best in a Jets uniform, where he co-led the league in solo tackles with 97, a tie with former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner. Davis enjoyed his biggest successes with the New Orleans Saints, earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2019, second-team All-Pro honors from 2020 to 2023, and two Pro Bowl appearances in 2022 and 2023.
The Mississippi native has 1,536 tackles, 45 sacks, six forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries, four interceptions, and 61 pass deflections in his career. In five seasons with the Jets, he had 483 tackles, 11.5 sacks, five fumble recoveries, an interception, and 11 pass deflections.
At age 37, Davis still has a lot left, especially durability. He has played at least 16 games every year since 2017, and he has at least 64 combined tackles in each of those seasons except 2022, when he had 54.

Last season, Davis tallied 64 tackles, a fumble recovery, two forced fumbles, and three pass deflections. In returning to New York, Davis will play for his third different coach with the Jets.
Davis's career started under former Jets head coach Rex Ryan, followed by Todd Bowles in 2017. Now, Davis will look to help boost Aaron Glenn’s defense in the coach’s second season at the helm.
