The Baltimore Ravens could be without quarterback Lamar Jackson for the rest of the season after a concerning injury knocked him out of Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.
Jackson was attempting to pass the ball on his first offensive play of the game, but his throwing hand made contact with Bills pass rusher Greg Rousseau. Jackson grabbed his right thumb, then left the field and went back to the locker room.
He was ruled out for the remainder of the game, leaving the Ravens in a difficult situation at quarterback as they suffered a loss to Buffalo. According to postgame reports and comments from Ravens head coach Jesse Minter, Jackson will be placed on injured reserve, undergo surgery, and miss at least four games.

"I mean this with no disrespect, but like that [expletive] has nothing to do with us. We’re a defense, and at the end of the day you need to go out there and play how you want to be remembered," he told reporters.
"And you gotta play with a certain passion, which I felt we did. Obviously, not what we want on the scoreboard, but there's a passion factor when you go out there. Guys look each other in the eyes and play passionate," Hamilton said.
Hamilton's comments sparked criticism on social media, with several fans taking issue with his response.
"Insane not to care about the reason your team wins," one commenter responded to the X video clip.
"He thought he was being a tough guy now he'll send out an apology," another commenter wrote.
Someone commented, "Lmao nothing to do with him. He’s the face of the franchise."
"son he is your team hope respectfully we talking about 2 time mvp Lamar Jackson," a commenter replied.
Others wrote in the replies, "locker room crumbling . . .," and "That’s a terrible answer."
However, other fans defended Hamilton, suggesting he was emphasizing the defense's responsibility to continue playing hard regardless of injuries on offense.
Not only did Jackson leave the game with his right thumb injury, but backup quarterback Tyler Huntley also exited due to a toe injury. Undrafted rookie third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano entered the game to try to lead the Ravens to a surprising win.
Baltimore's defense struggled to contain Buffalo's offense, which generated 426 total yards behind quarterback Josh Allen, running back James Cook, and others. Allen threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns in the win, and ran for another. Cook finished with 21 carries for 80 rushing yards and a touchdown.
The 4-4 Ravens are in a difficult spot with their quarterbacks now. It was unclear on Sunday night if Huntley would be able to start in their upcoming game.
They also have a short turnaround from Sunday's loss until they play again in "Thursday Night Football" against the hot Jacksonville Jaguars, who lead the AFC South with a 5-2 record.
