Cleveland Browns training camp is underway, and Shedeur Sanders doesn't believe his team is hindered by the internal squabbles that might plague some quarterback rooms.
While speaking with Browns legend Bernie Kosar, Sanders brought up the subject during his comments on how things have been in his second year at camp.
“I’m truly excited for this year that the attitude about everybody in the building, like we the hard coaching, we like all that stuff, because we know it’s coming from a place of wanting us to be great. … Everybody’s goal is aligned here. That’s why we don’t have the petty quarterback battles internally. That’s not up to us; that’s up to whoever the coaches think,” he told Kosar.

After being selected by Cleveland in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders became the team's starter in Week 11 of last season after fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion.

Sanders showed glimpses of his ability to lead the team, achieving a 3-4 record in his seven starts. He threw for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He also achieved a surprising Pro Bowl selection in his rookie season.
Entering his sophomore season, things look different, as he's battling NFL veteran Deshaun Watson for the starting job. Whether Sanders or Watson is winning the battle is unclear, as there's been no real indication from the team's new head coach, Todd Monken.
Gabriel is also on the depth chart in the third spot and would love to seize the starting job if the opportunity comes his way. However, based on Sanders' comments, there isn't much behind-the-scenes drama amongst the QBs.
"That's where I say we've grown for sure the most. I'd say for sure in the quarterback room," Sanders told Kosar, who said he admired the "camaraderie" amongst them.
The Browns will open their preseason with a game on Aug. 15 against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. They'll begin their regular season on Sunday, Sept. 13, with a visit to play Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
