We are officially on the road to "WrestleMania 42," as Saturday night's "Elimination Chamber" was the final Premium Live Event before the WWE touches down in Las Vegas seven weeks from now for their marquee event of the year.

While we know Sunday night's main event, the closer, with Roman Reigns challenging CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship, there are still questions about which match will headline Saturday's show.

On Saturday night in Chicago, Randy Orton won the namesake "Elimination Chamber" match for the men, punching his ticket to a WWE title match at "WrestleMania 42" against reigning champion Drew McIntyre.

But following the actions of McIntyre in the main event, where he interrupted the closing moments between Orton and former champion Cody Rhodes, "Friday Night SmackDown" general manager Nick Aldis made a gigantic match for this coming Friday.

McIntyre will have to defend his championship against Rhodes one-on-one, which has put the possible Saturday main event of "WrestleMania 42" into flux.

Although there is a chance that the two women's world title matches of Jade Cargill defending against Rhea Ripley or Stephanie Vaquer taking on Liv Morgan might get the night one closer, it's expected that the WWE Championship involving Orton will end the first half of WrestleMania 42.

While the current match is slated for Orton vs. champion McIntyre, that is almost assuredly not the match that will finish Saturday's 'Mania card.

Per sources, several possible WWE Championship matches are on the table following poor ticket sales over the past month, leading into the company's Super Bowl.

The main event could be Orton, McIntyre, and Rhodes in a triple threat. It could also be expanded into a fatal four-way, with Jacob Fatu being added to the mix.

There's also been discussion of a possible five- or six-way contest, with names like Aleister Black, Sami Zayn, and Trick Williams floated as potential competitors. If the match does expand to five or more wrestlers, it would officially become the biggest multi-person match for a top title in the history of WrestleMania.

The original plan, per Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, was for Cody Rhodes to face Roman Reigns a third time for the world championship before those plans were allegedly nixed in favor of Reigns vs. Punk early in 2026.
