WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio is moving closer to an in-ring return. A new report indicates that fans may not have to wait much longer to see the legendary luchador back in action.
According to a report from PWInsider Elite on October 1, Mysterio is expected at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando this week. This visit is for the final stages of his rehabilitation from a significant injury suffered earlier this year.
This is a major step toward Mysterio receiving medical clearance to compete again. He has been sidelined for several months.

Mysterio was forced to miss his scheduled match at WrestleMania 41 after suffering a groin tear. The injury was described as a freak accident, occurring on a small motion rather than a high-risk aerial maneuver. The injury removed him from a planned match against El Grande Americano, with Rey Fenix serving as a last-minute replacement.

During his time away, Mysterio also underwent a procedure to repair a long-standing busted eardrum. He had initially hoped for a return by August, but his upcoming visit to the Performance Center suggests his clearance is now imminent.

Throughout his decorated career, Mysterio has battled numerous injuries, particularly to his knees. He has revealed in the past that years of ACL and meniscus tears have created significant wear and tear, which was a contributing factor to his more recent groin issue.
Mysterio's return could significantly impact the SmackDown roster. Specifically, the storyline with El Grande Americano that was paused at WrestleMania remains unresolved.
While Mysterio has been recovering, El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) has formed the new faction Los Americanos on Raw with his stablemates Rayo and Bravo. The group is not currently scheduled for a match at the upcoming Crown Jewel event, leaving Kaiser without a clear direction and making him a prime target for a returning Mysterio seeking retribution.
