WWE Wrestlepalooza featured prominent matches with top stars John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes, AJ Lee, and CM Punk. It also offered some surprises during the night for fans at the arena and watching the premium live event at home.

One of those surprises occurred when Pat McAfee appeared at the event as he made his official return to commentary alongside regulars Michael Cole and Wade Barrett.

McAfee was previously a regular on various WWE shows but took a break from those appearances due to his work on ESPN's College GameDay during the college football season, as well as The Pat McAfee Show, also on ESPN.

Wrestlepalooza was the first official premium live event presented by ESPN, after previous WWE events were presented on Peacock. After the event, Paul "Triple H" Levesqure expressed excitement about the partnership with ESPN, calling it "incredible."

While McAfee only stayed to provide commentary for a few of the matches, the ESPN star's return was also a welcome surprise for fans. It was also something that Triple H made sure to mention after the event.

The Chief Content Officer appeared as one of the guests on WWE's Wrestlepalooza post-show which streamed on YouTube after the event.

"I also want to mention Pat McAfee," Triple H said as fans behind him being chanting for McAfee.

"The only thing I can really say about Pat McAfee here in WWE is he is family. He is every bit of family for us. Love Pat to death and anytime he can come and do something with us it is off the chart good," Triple H said.

McAfee has worked with WWE since 2018 as an analyst, host, and commentator, and also participated in the ring, including matches with The Miz and Gunther. He announced in June that he would take a break due to mental exhaustion with his hectic schedule.

Through his break from WWE, he's continued with ESPN's College GameDay and The Pat McAfee Show, which has featured interviews with various WWE stars.

Based on Triple H's remarks, he was happy to have McAfee back for Wrestlepalooza, especially with it being such a huge promotional opportunity for ESPN.
