'Spyro the Dragon' Remake Rumors Fueled By Mysterious Egg
Spyro the Dragon has been rumored to receive the remake treatment, like its brother-in-arms Crash Bandicoot. While it hasn't been confirmed yet, a strange package delivered to the Newsweek offices has us thinking a proper announcement is right around the corner.
The plain, white box included a return address label listing the sender as Falcon McBob. Seeing as how I don't know anyone from the McBob family, I was a little hesitant to open the box. There was also a strong odor of farmland emanating from it, so this was a strange one.
Once opened, I found a scaly purple egg that looks like it came from a dragon. A note inside the box says "Something's about to hatch." The note is signed from the same Falcon McBob who sent the package. The rest of the box was filled with a bunch of hay, explaining why I thought it smelled like a cow's dinner.
While this doesn't outright confirm a Spyro the Dragon remake is in development, it strongly suggests this is a safe bet. This isn't the first time we've heard talk of a Spyro remake, and it seems like an obvious move for Activision given the success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The interesting thing to see will be if the rumored Spyro remake will have the same timed exclusivity for PS4 as Crash Bandicoot.
When will Activision make a proper announcement about the Spyro remake? The longest we'll have to wait is until E3 in June. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement in the next few weeks, with a release date confirmed and playable build available at E3.
So what do you think? Does this strange egg have you thinking a Spyro remake announcement is coming soon? What else could this egg possibly be for? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
