A heartwarming moment at a local garden shop has captured the internet's attention after a cat was found wrapped in a jacket, nestled on a bench.
Redditor u/RudeExplanation9304 shared how a routine trip to a store was made even more special when they stumbled upon a cat resting peacefully under a jacket left by an unknown person. The post quickly went viral, amassing 54,000 upvotes in the "aww" subreddit.
"Someone wrapped up the cat at my local garden shop and left their jacket," they wrote.

The accompanying photo shows a gray cat, named Liam, lying comfortably on a wooden bench beneath a butter-yellow jacket lined with fur for extra warmth.
In the comments, the OP (original poster) added more details about Liam's life. "I asked the people at the shop and they don't know whose jacket it is. The cat is named Liam and lives there. He has a cat door for full-time access to the indoor shop and is spoiled by the whole surrounding neighborhood."
Liam, who has become a beloved figure in the community, also provides comfort to the OP, who has worked next door to the store for six years.
"I always take time to pet him. If I'm ever feeling down, he's always there for a cuddle. Pets are just the greatest and really help distract from all the craziness that is our lives. It's the little things that make it all worth it, like some stranger leaving a jacket for a cat...he had no idea the impact it would have, and not just on the cat, but everyone who now sees it. Little acts of kindness go farther than anyone can imagine," they shared.
However, Liam didn't get to keep the jacket — the OP humorously noted that the jacket's owner returned to retrieve it. "Poor Liam now clothless lol," they added.
According to Catster, cats often burrow under blankets due to their natural "bush-dwelling" instinct, seeking safety, comfort, or playfulness.

Many cats find it calming to be wrapped up, mimicking the protective cover their wild ancestors would seek to avoid predators. The soft texture of blankets also appeals to some cats, enhancing their comfort.
Additionally, anxiety or illness could cause a cat to hide under blankets, though these behaviors are usually harmless and rooted in their instincts or preferences.
Redditors were quick to express their delight over the heartwarming post.
One user wrote: "This is the most wholesome post I have seen all freaking year. Loving humanity right about now."
Another joked: "See if you can find the jacket owner. This could be the beginning of a beautiful romance. Just sayin."
Others expressed similar sentiments, with one commenter sharing: "Today someone hit my car and left no note. I lost faith in humanity briefly. This restored that faith."
