The 5 Best Meme Reactions to the Super Bowl Halftime Show

Super Bowl LVI featured a show-stopping performance during its Halftime show from music icons Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent.

From Eminem taking a knee during the event to 50 Cent's surprise entrance, there were a number of things that fans felt inclined to react to or poke fun at.

Taking place at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 13, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg kicked off the Halftime show by performing "Next Episode".

In honor of Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre then put on a rendition of "California Love," which he originally performed with the late singer and Roger Troutman in 1995.

50 Cent then sang his hit tack "In Da Club," doing the introduction upside-down no less, before Mary J. Blige wowed fans with her iconic songs "Family Affair" and "No More Drama."

Kendrick Lamar then took to the stage to perform "Alright," before Eminem rapped his song "Lose Yourself" in which he took a knee.

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre then closed out the show with a joint performance of "Still D.R.E." from the latter's 1999 album 2001.

1. Classic Hip Hop

A number of viewers were taken by the fact the show featured iconic musicians from the 90s and noughties.

Commenting on the Halftime show's classic Hip-Hop theme, one fan shared a picture of an old iPod and joked that "tonight's super bowl halftime show presented by my 2005 iPod."

Another joked about the age most fans of the musicians would be, sharing a video of a person doing stretches and adding: "Me and my high school graduating class in our living rooms right now."

One fan shared an image of Steve Carrell looking emotional on The Office, and said that was how all "millenials watching the Super Bowl Halftime show" were feeling in that moment.

2. 50 Cent Performs Upside Down

50 Cent surprised fans by performing "In Da Club" on the stage, but what was more surprising was the fact he did the intro entirely upside down.

Joking about the fact the rapper would have been waiting upside down for some time before performing, one person shared an image of Tom Holland's Spider-Man attached to the ceiling.

The fan joked that saying that was what 50 Cent looked like while he waited his turn to perform during the Halftime show.

Another viewer claimed that they couldn't do "this to someone in their 40s."

3. The Avengers

Combining Hip Hop with superheroes, some viewers joked that the musicians who teamed up for the Halftime show were like the Avengers from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

4. Eminem Takes a Knee

One of the most noteworthy moments from the Super Bowl Halftime show was Eminem deciding to take a knee, which was clearly a reference to Colin Kaepernick doing the same to the national anthem in 2016.

In response to Eminem doing so, one viewer wrote: "I know y'all saw the [goat] Eminem take that Knee. [sic]"

Another added: "Eminem is the man. Great to see him take the knee after his performance."

5. Mary J. Blige's performance

Mary J. Blige also wowed fans with her performances onstage, with some gushing over her rendition of "Family Affair" and "No More Drama."

Sharing their excitement, one viewer simply wrote: "MARY J BLIGE DID THAT [sic]" alongside an image of an overexcited woman.

Another commented on the way in which the singer fell down at the end of performance, comparing her to the animated characters in Toy Story.

Making the comparison, the viewerwrote: "Why Mary J Blige fall like The toys from toy story when Andy gets back."
