Nintendo's latest earnings release revealed a lot of information about the company's great 2017 and its current plans for the Switch in 2018 and beyond. The report includes proposed release dates for some of the most anticipated games for the Nintendo Switch, including Super Smash Bros., Pokémon and more.
According to the earnings report, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch is set to release in 2018. This doesn't come as too much of a surprise as Nintendo confirmed that the upcoming fighting game will be the spotlight for the company at this year's E3.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch was announced back in early March during the company's Direct presentation confirmed at least one new addition to the roster, the Inklings from the Splatoon series. The earnings report also confirms that the final title for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game is not set so it's looking likely that this will be a new installment in the franchise instead of a port of the Wii U/3DS game.
Pokémon fans are looking forward the franchise coming to a home console for the first time, and the Nintendo earnings report puts the release of the new Pokémon game for "2018 or later." This likely sets the new Pokémon game for a holiday 2018 release but gives Nintendo and Game Freak wiggle room in case they need to push it back to 2019.
Other top Nintendo Switch games like Metroid Prime 4 a nd Bayonetta 3 had release dates as TBA, which isn't too surprising. Metroid Prime 4 was first announced at E3 2017 with a short teaser and more information on the next Samus adventure may come at this year's show.
Bayonetta 3 was announced at the 2017 Game Awards alongside the Nintendo Switch ports of the first two games in the series. Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 were released for Switch back in February, which could mean the third game in the series could drop in the second half of 2018.
Nintendo's E3 2018 video presentation will go live June 12 at 12 p.m. EDT and more information regarding release dates will be given.
