Why 'Superman & Lois' Star Jordan Elsass Is Not Returning for Season 3

Actor Jordan Elsass will not be returning to Superman & Lois for Season 3, it has been confirmed.

Elsass played the role of Jonathan Kent on the CW series for Seasons 1 and 2 but will now be recast for future installments.

Superman & Lois follows the lives of Clark Kent (aka Superman), played by Tyler Hoechlin, journalist Lois Lane, played by Elizabeth "Bitsie" Tulloch, and their two teenage sons, Jordan Kent, played by Alexander Garfin, and Jonathan.

The series is part of the CW's Arrow universe, which includes shows like The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, as well as Arrow.

Warner Bros. Television confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday that Jordan Elsass will not be returning to Superman & Lois for Season 3.

The statement cited "personal reasons" as the reason for the actor's exit.

The full statement read: "Jordan Elsass has notified the Studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for Season 3 due to personal reasons. The role of Jonathan Kent will be recast."

Elsass has previously starred in Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington's Little Fires Everywhere as Trip Richardson and in the Amazon Prime Video series Panic as Tyler Young.

According to IMDb, he has two upcoming projects—TV movie Billy and the Bandit and Poets Never Die, a film directed by Stavros Sideras.

The Superman & Lois Season 2 finale saw Superman manage to stop villain Ally Allston.

With her power-draining abilities, Ally had appeared to have completely conquered Clark in the episodes leading up to the season finale but Clark was willing to resort to extreme measures to defeat her.

Desperate to overthrow Ally, Clark asked Tal-Rho to throw him into the sun in the hopes of supercharging his powers. The plan worked, and Clark was able to defeat Ally as she became overwhelmed when trying to take his new, supercharged, abilities.

Following the drama, Clark built a new Fortress of Solitude in the middle of the ocean, where his family could recuperate together and use as shelter in the future.

Meanwhile, John Henry Irons received a visit from Arrow's John Diggle and was recruited to help him investigate why Bruno Manheim killed the John Henry of Superman & Lois' Earth. Essentially, Diggle has enlisted this version of Irons to help solve his own murder.

Superman & Lois will return to the CW for Season 3.
