Update (1/4/2021, 7:30 p.m.): Newsweek independently confirmed that the initial reports of Tanya Roberts' death were inaccurate. Her representative, Mike Pingel, told Newsweek that he had initially spread news of Roberts' death after speaking with her distraught partner, Lance O'Brien, on Sunday afternoon.
Original story:
The death of Tanya Roberts, the actress who played Midge Pinciotti in the sitcom That '70s Show and Stacey Sutton in the James Bond film A View to a Kill starring Roger Moore, has caused a storm of tributes and messages of condolences on social media.
Her death was announced Sunday in a message from her publicist Mike Pingel on the official Tanya Roberts fan page on Facebook which read: "I'm very sad to have to post this. Yes, Tanya passed away today. I'm heart broken."
Roberts was reported to have collapsed on December 24 while out walking her dogs and was admitted to Cedar-Sinar Hospital in Los Angeles.
No cause of death was given but her death was not reported to be COVID-19-related. Roberts, who was 65 years old, was not ill in the days leading up to her death.
Pingel told The Hollywood Reporter: "I'm devastated. She was brilliant and beautiful and I feel like a light has been taken away. To say she was an angel would be at the top of the list.
"She was the sweetest person you'd ever meet and had a huge heart. She loved her fans, and I don't think she realized how much she meant to them," Pingel added.
Several public figures have shared messages of condolences and tribute on Twitter remembering the late actress.
George Pennachio, a reporter for ABC 7 in Los Angeles, wrote in a post Sunday: "R.I.P. to actress Tanya Roberts. She died today at 65. No cause given, only that it wasn't related to COVID-19. Tanya starred in the final season of TV's 'Charlie's Angels' & later appeared on 'That '70s Show.' Was also a Bond girl opposite Roger Moore in 'A View To A Kill'."
