Meghan Markle's Dad Is 'Enjoying' That He 'Can Make the Entire Royal Family Not Speak'
Thomas Markle is "enjoying" the silent treatment he's receiving from the royal family.
Despite claiming his Sunday interview with The Sun would be his last, Markle spoke out about the royal family once again on Tuesday. This time the 74-year-old wasn't complaining about the fact that he hadn't spoken to his daughter, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Cambridge—rather, he told TMZ he was getting a kick out of being ignored.
"I was silent for a full year and the press beat me up every day saying I was a hermit hiding in Mexico, so I gave my story. Apparently, that interview put the royal family in their silence mode ... so, I gave another interview to break the silence. All they have to do is speak to me," Thomas Markle said.
Thomas Markle said he was "unfazed" by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's alleged reaction to his interview with The Sun, during which he said his 36-year-old daughter was "terrified" of her new life as a royal and suggested she might be "under too much pressure."
Thomas Markle also claimed he hadn't spoken to Meghan Markle since she and Harry tied the knot in May. He said the phone number he had listed for Meghan Markle was no longer in service and he didn't have her address to write her either. "It's probably the longest time I have gone without speaking to her ever," he told The Sun.
Following the release of the interview, British tabloids speculated Queen Elizabeth II's family were upset by his comments, which essentially provoked Thomas Markle to speak out once again to TMZ.
Noting the alleged silent treatment he's receiving from the monarchy is silly, Thomas Markle was still hoping to hear from Meghan Markle and said he was tickled he was able to cause such a reaction from the royal family. "I'm enjoying the fact that I can make the entire royal family not speak and maybe I can get a laugh out of the duchess," he said.
