Woman Reveals How to Get Free Refills at Starbucks

It might sound like a trick, but Starbucks really does offer free refills, as recently discovered by over 500,000 internet users.

TikTok user @bestoftarget documented herself learning about the offer after a follower asked in a comment: "Don't you get free refills if you're shopping there?"

@bestoftarget responded with a video, starting out by questioning the claim. "I 1000% do not believe this," she said.

The user approached a Starbucks employee working in an in-store branch at Target. "Hey, I wanna know, do you get free refills with your Starbucks if you're shopping at Target?"

"Yes," replied the worker. "Only for hot coffee, iced coffee, and our iced tea."

In a follow-up video, the creator showed her free refill, choosing a passion herbal tea.

Although a lot of claims from TikTok may prove to not be credible, this one really is, and it doesn't just apply to Target stores.

Starbucks offers Starbucks Rewards members free refills on hot or iced brewed coffee and teas at any participating Starbucks stores. The refills do however need to be during the same Starbucks visit as the purchased drink, meaning stores where you spend a lot of time in one visit, like a Target trip, are likely to get your money's worth the most.

"To be eligible for free refill(s) of hot or iced brewed coffee or tea, you must scan the member barcode in the App prior to purchasing your beverage and again when you request your refill or pay for your beverage using your registered Starbucks Card and scan the same card again when you requesting your hot or iced brewed coffee or tea refill," reads Starbucks' site.

Starbucks Rewards members are automatically given a digital Starbucks Card with zero dollars on when you first sign up, which you then add funds to after. Members need to pay with a Starbucks Card to be eligible for the free refills.

Alternatively, members can register a physical Starbucks gift card to their accounts using the 16 digit number and security code from the back.

To become a Starbucks Rewards member, and get your free TikTok-inspired refills, go to www.starbucks.com/rewards or download the Starbucks cell phone app.

Starbucks-goers may be disappointed in the limits in drink choice on the free refills, but at least it's not a "mango dragon fruit with espresso," which one Starbucks employee recently described as the "grossest" drink he's had to make.

As reported by Newsweek earlier this week, the Starbucks barista gained over two million views showing himself making the order, beginning with mango and dragon fruit juice with lemonade.

However, a shot of espresso was soon introduced to the order, poured in and shaken.

"This is so disgusting, seriously," he wrote.
