Tomi Lahren Ridiculed Over Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Halloween Costume: 'I Know This is a Costume Because Tomi Would Never Read Philosophy'

Conservative pundit Tomi Lahren has been mocked after revealing she dressed up as left-wing congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Halloween.

The Fox Nation host shared a wide-eyed picture of herself wearing large glasses, a blazer and a dark brown wig while clutching a copy of "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

Lahren also added a purple book with "Green New Deal" written on the front to her festive outfit—a nod to the Democrats signature policy proposal.

Showing off her costume on Twitter, the Fox host said: "I decided to dress up as the person who scares me most. The Democratic Dimwit Darling, socialist-loving, freedom-hating, former bartender herself @AOC"

In Instagram and Facebook posts of the same picture, she added: "I'm not afraid of ghouls, ghosts, zombies or political incorrectness. I am far more terrified AOC was actually elected to the United States Congress. Talk about a haunted House..."

While the joke Halloween outfit seemed to go down well with her fans, picking up thousands of likes across the three platforms, many were not so keen on her festive stunt.

Actress Alyssa Milano was one of several who picked up on Lahren's remark about Ocasio-Cortez's previous work as a bartender, tweeting: "Also, aren't you part of the party who claims to be for working Americans? Why say 'bartender,' like it's a bad thing?"

"Why do you guys always make fun of the fact that she was a bartender?" Marie Connor tweeted in response to the Halloween post.

Journalist Molly Knight added: "What exactly is wrong with being a bartender? It's an honest day's work, and a much more difficult job than you've ever had."

Others were less annoyed about the costume and much more scathing. Comedian Ron Placone said: "I figured your costume was just 'Tomi Lahren with dark hair and glasses holding two things that it would benefit her to actually read.'"

"Not really a vicious burn on AOC to dress up as her on halloween so you can look hot," the Washington Post opinion writer Elizabeth Bruenig tweeted.

Right Wing Watch investigative reporter Jared Holt added: "I know this is a costume because Tomi would never read philosophy."

Responding to the backlash over her outfit, Lahren said "crybabies out there triggered by my Halloween costume" needed to calm down.

She also rowed back on her pointed comment about Ocasio-Cortez being a former bartender, tweeting: "I mean this truly and sincerely, being a former bartender is the best and most admirable thing about @AOC."

The Fox Nation host has long been a critic of leading Democrats, particularly those on the progressive wing of the party who consider themselves democratic socialists.

In one of several viral social media videos that brought Lahren fame, she said socialism "turned into a black market for freaking toilet paper" and called senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren "nut jobs."

But she is not entirely opposed to policy positions backed by the Democratic Party.

The broadcaster made national headlines in 2017 when she brought a lawsuit against The Blaze after being fired by the outlet for revealing she was pro-choice on The View.
