Baby Accused of Being Transphobic in Viral Video Sparks Debate

A video of a person claiming they had an interaction with a transphobic baby has gone viral on social media. The video has so far amassed nearly 200,000 views and has left a debate between viewers as to whether the video is genuine or satire.

The video was first posted on right-wing Twitter page Teachers_Exposed on Monday December 28. The video was posted with the caption: "'Transphobic baby', this preschool teacher came to the conclusion that one of her students is transphobic."

However there is no clear indication from the video that the person is a teacher and the person does not give any of their personal details away. The video posted on the Twitter page appeared to to be a recording of a TikTok video but the account of the person who posted it is not made clear.

In the video, the person claimed that a baby was transphobic and accused the baby of liking her more with long hair, something the person suggests makes them look more feminine. The person says they confronted the baby about this and the baby began to cry.

In the video they said: "I have talked about the transphobic baby at work before.

"I went in a room with him today and I had my wig on which I took off now because it is like 9 o'clock at night.

"He didn't cry and he was sort of babbling at me. I had a look at him and do you like me now because we have had a moment or do you like me now because I have long hair and look more feminine.

"Because then you are more transphobic, then he started to cry so that was my answer."

The video has since been widely shared across social media since being posted by another right-wing Twitter account, Libs of Tik Tok, where the post has garnered over 185,000 views and 1,000 retweets.

A number of commentators have criticized the person in the video, while others have cast doubt on its authenticity.

"Ok, this had to be a joke. If not, we are in deep s***. This is genuinely disturbing if this is not satire," wrote one user.

Newsweek has contacted the Teachers Exposed Twitter account for further information.

In late November, President Joe Biden issued a statement to mark Transgender Day of Remembrance and condemn acts of violence against trans Americans.

On November 20, in a message from the White House, Biden mourned the 46 recorded cases of transgender people killed in 2021.

The statement read: "This year, at least 46 transgender individuals in this country and hundreds more around the world, were killed in horrifying acts of violence.

"Each of these lives was precious. Each of them deserved freedom, justice, and joy. We mourn those we lost in the deadliest year on record for transgender Americans, as well as the countless other transgender people, disproportionately Black and brown transgender women and girls - who face brutal violence, discrimination, and harassment."
