Donald Trump Jr. Accuses Chris Cuomo of Hypocrisy After CNN Host Compared 'Fredo' to the N-word, Shares Old Clip of Him 'So at Ease With Someone Saying it'

Donald Trump Jr. accused Chris Cuomo and CNN of hypocrisy over an incident in which the host was caught on video confronting a heckler who called him "Fredo," saying it was an anti-Italian slur equivalent to the N-word for black people.

A statement from a CNN spokesperson said: "Chris Cuomo defended himself when he was verbally attacked with the use of an ethnic slur in an orchestrated setup. We completely support him."

Responding to the CNN statement with the video clip, Trump Jr. tweeted: "Does CNN's head of PR still think 'Fredo' is an ethnic slur after watching this? Because if it's the N word for Italians like @ChrisCuomo says, I don't understand why Chris seems so at ease with someone saying it here. An excuse just as fake as his news. #FredoCuomo."

The president's eldest son posted to Twitter a clip of a segment from Cuomo's show aired in January in which his guest Ana Navarro, a Republican strategist, referred to Trump Jr. as Fredo, a reference to a character in The Godfather who is a weak and incompetent Corleone brother.

The video emerged through a YouTube channel called THAT'S THE POINT with Brandon, which stated that a fan sent the clip in, and then went viral across social media.

"Footage sent in by a TTP fan," the text beneath the video says. "A fan of news went to ask Chris Cuomo for a photo, mind you the man who asked him DID NOT know his real name and knows of him only through The RUSH LIMBUAGH SHOW and on that show Rush repeatedly calls him 'FREDO' so the man legitimately thought his name was FREDO.

"At this point CHRIS CUOMO LOSES IT AND THREATENS THE MAN WITH VIOLENCE!"

During the exchange, Cuomo takes the unidentified man to task for calling him Fredo. The man protests that he believed Cuomo's name was Fredo.

"No, punk-ass bitches from the right call me Fredo. My name is Chris Cuomo. I'm an anchor on CNN. Fredo is from 'The Godfather.' He was their weak brother, and they used it as an Italian aspersion," Cuomo says.

"Any of you Italian? It's a fucking insult to your people. It's an insult to your fucking people. It's like the N-word for us. Is that a cool fucking thing?"

During the profanity-laden exchange, the man tells Cuomo he does not have a problem.

"You're going to have a fucking problem. I'll fucking ruin your shit. I'll fucking throw you down these stairs like a fucking punk," Cuomo says.

"Take a swing. No, no, come on, boy. Come on, boy. You want to call me shit, call me shit then. I'm right fucking here. I'll fucking wreck your shit. I'll fucking wreck your shit. You didn't know what you were doing when you called me Fredo? You know now!"
