'Twilight' Movie Order: How to Watch the 'Twilight' Movies Chronologically

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson starred in the Twilight movies, which catapulted them to superstardom. The films were adapted from Stephenie Meyer's novel series, but an extra movie was made to the books.

The films may have received mixed reviews from critics, but they were loved by fans and have become cult classics.

They follow the story of Bella Swan (played by Stewart) a high school girl who falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen (Pattinson).

But with that relationship comes a huge number of complications, including warring species and the question of whether Bella should become a vampire herself.

What Order Should I Watch The Twilight Movies?

Here is how to watch the Twilight movies, especially now they have arrived on Netflix.

  • Twilight (2008)
  • The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)
  • The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010)
  • The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011)
  • The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (2012)

The movies were released in the same order as the books, except for the last.

In this case, there were only four books released, but the final book was split in half into two films.

This was a popular trope of franchise movies at the time, with The Hunger Games and Harry Potter franchises also ending in a final film split in half.

Meyer released a fifth book, Twilight: Midnight Sun, however this fits in a different place within the franchise.

In terms of the books, Midnight Sun retells the story of the first book but through the perspective of Edward Cullen, rather than Bella.

Meyer had already gone down this road with Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, the 2015 novel which retold a number of the stories with gender-swapped characters Beau Swann and Edythe Cullen.

Will There Be A Sixth Twilight Movie?

Nothing has been confirmed for another film, despite Meyer giving Pattinson and director Catherine Hardwicke chapters to read of the book years before its publication.

Pattinson revealed to Collider he read some completed chapters of Midnight Sun while filming the 2008 debut movie, which helped inform his performance.

The book itself was not released until 2020, despite COVID-19 threatening to delay the novel's release even further.

As a result, if the film were to be made, it would be coming out more than 10 years after the first film.

Having said that, Hardwicke did not shut down the idea of this project in a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, admitting the previous movies very much focused on Bella's state of mind.

She said: "[It] would be fun. It would be fascinating... Rob is Batman now... and Kristen is in a million beautiful projects. Who knows what would happen."

While that is certainly not a definite shutdown, it is also not a confirmation, especially as the main actors have gone on to do other work.

At the moment, the five films are available on Netflix to stream.
