When Is 'Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt' Coming to Steam Early Access

The developers behind Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt have confirmed that the free-to-play game will shortly be coming to Steam Early Access in the near future.

This was revealed during a brief slot at Gamescom's "Opening Night Live" broadcast. Here, a new cinematic trailer for the game was revealed, showcasing the playable Toreador clan.

What Is 'Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt'?

For those who are unaware, Bloodhunt is an upcoming battle royale shooter that is adapted from the popular Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop RPG. In it, gamers will be thrust into a bloody civil war between opposing undead clans and will have to use their wits to emerge as the last player standing.

In this sense, it is very reminiscent of other battle royales that you might be familiar with, such as PUBG, Apex Legends or Call of Duty: Warzone. Yet as Sharkmob pointed out in an exclusive interview with Newsweek, there are some major differences that help make their interpretation of the genre stand out from the crowd.

For a start, gamers will have access to a roster of supernatural powers here, enabling them to do things like turn invisible, leap great heights and teleport around the map at will. Then there is also the titular "bloodhunt" system, which is a penalty enforced on any player who is careless enough to be spotted by human NPCs while out in public. If you are exposed in this way, then your position on the map will be given away to everybody else and you will basically have a giant target painted on your back.

'Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt' Early Access Release Date

During their slot at today's all-digital Gamescom presentation, developer Sharkmob revealed that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt will be coming to Steam Early Acces on Tuesday, September 7.

Early Access is a distribution model that essentially allows customers to purchase a game before it is technically finished and enjoy it while it is still undergoing the final stages of development. The idea is that any revenue generated from Early Access purchases will then be channelled into improving the game itself and adding extra functionality.

A new trailer for Bloodhunt focusing on the abilities and unique playstyle of the Toreador faction premiered at today's Gamescom presentation. It concluded with the reveal that fans will finally be able to dive into the game from Tuesday, September 7.

Speaking about this, presenter Geoff Keighley clarified: "After a successful alpha period of testing and improving the game, developers at Shark Mob are now ready for the next step".

Fans can sign up for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt's Early Access version now on the game's official website.
