Vanessa Trump Defends Estranged Husband Donald Jr. Over Kimberly Guilfoyle 'Romance'

Vanessa Trump came to her soon-to-be ex-husband Donald Trump Jr.'s defense in a tweet Thursday, standing up for his reported new relationship.

"The lengths people will go to attack a woman simply because she's dating Don," tweeted Vanessa Trump, who filed for divorce from President Donald Trump's eldest son in mid-March. "We've been separated for over 9 months and respect each other's decisions & privacy. We'll focus on raising our great kids. Would be nice if the press did the same rather than obsess over our pvt lives!"

Vanessa Trump, who has five children with Trump Jr., quoted his tweet from that morning stating, "Liberal privilege at its finest," and linking a Mediaite opinion piece criticizing a New York Daily News column that called on Fox News to fire host Kimberly Guilfoyle, who has been spotted alongside Trump Jr.

"Now that Kimberly Guilfoyle is reportedly having sleepovers with Donald Trump Jr., the Fredo Corleone of the Trump boys, while she's reporting on him, his father, his father's sex scandals, and the Mueller investigation, what Fox News—that fair and balanced network—should do is bust her down to courtroom reporter. Or fire her," Daily News columnist Lisa Stasi wrote on Tuesday.

"She can't report on the most powerful family in the country while dating one of them," Stasi concluded.

That is "faulty logic," according to Joseph Wulfsohn, who penned the Mediaite opinion piece. He argued that Guilfoyle is an opinion host, not a news reporter or anchor expected to be objective and that she is just one of many journalists who have dated powerful people in politics.

"The piece really feels primarily like an opportunity to hit Trump Jr. at Guilfoyle's expense," Wulfsohn wrote.

Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle have not confirmed or dismissed their rumored relationship.

Vanessa Trump does not tweet as often as Trump Jr., and her Twitter posts since she filed for divorce have focused on their children. The two, who married in 2005, have recently spent time together with their kids.

In February, when Vanessa Trump was hospitalized after opening a letter addressed at Trump Jr. and containing a suspicious substance, he tweeted that he was grateful for her safety.

"Thankful that Vanessa & my children are safe and unharmed after the incredibly scary situation that occurred this morning," Trump Jr. wrote. "Truly disgusting that certain individuals choose to express their opposing views with such disturbing behavior."
