Vet's Hilarious Weekly Signs Featuring 'Corny' Pet Jokes Applauded Online

A vets in North Carolina has brought a smile to local residents, and the internet, with their weekly changing signs featuring "corny" pet jokes.

Holly Ridge Veterinary Hospital opened in 2015, and ever since owner Dr. Dante Martin and hospital manager Linda Martin have entertained the neighborhood.

Underneath their name and number, the team have used the interchangeable letters to write one-liners and jokes worthy of dads everywhere.

A spokesperson for Holly Ridge told Newsweek why they decided to add the quirky touch of personality to the practice.

They said: "We thought it would be a good way to put a smile on our clients faces while also connecting to our community. Also wanted something that would attract people as they drove by the clinic while also making them giggle a little.

"We typically change our signs weekly and Linda Martin and Dr. Martin brainstorm together most times and other times we have a book of corny pet jokes that we use for inspiration."

Some classic jokes they've shared are: "What does a lazy dog chase? Parked cars."

"What happened to the dog who let her puppies out onto the street? She got fined for littering."

"What do you get if you cross a sheepdog with a rose? A collie flower."

"How do cats end a fight? They hiss and make up."

"What do you get if you cross a cocker spaniel, a poodle and a rooster? A coker poodle doo."

"What did The Lion King tell Simba when he was walking too slow? Mufasa."

"Why shouldn't a dog toot in an elevator? Because it is wrong on so many levels."

"What do you feed an invisible cat? Evaporated milk."

"What did the cat say when he lost his toys? You got to be kitten me."

"What do you get if you take a huge dog for a walk? A great Dane out."

"What do police need when a dog is missing? A few good leads"

"What do dogs do when they finish obedience school? Get their master."

"How many cars can you put in an empty box? Only one, after that the box isn't empty."

And they're not all animal-themed, as one said: "Yesterday a clown held the door open for me. I thought it was a nice jester."

The vets share their laugh-out-loud signs on their Facebook page, where they've attracted numerous comments and likes over the years.

Along with jokes, the team also pay tribute using the sign on special occasions, including Veteran's Day, 9/11 and other events, including sports fixtures.
