Benfica defender Victor Lindelof could move to Barcelona instead of Manchester United, according to reports from Portugal.

Swede Lindelof, 22, was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the January transfer window, but the improved form of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones in the center of the United defense meant manager Jose Mourinho did not need to spend on a new player in that position.

Now Portuguese newspaper O Jogo has reported Barcelona scouts travelled to watch Lindelof during Benfica's recent 3-0 win over Nacional.

Mourinho may decide to go back and bid again for £50 million-rated ($62.4 million) Lindelof in the summer. If he does, he can expect stiff competition from Spain.
