Cats meow and dogs bark, correct? Well, one TikTok video has shown that this isn't always the case.
In footage, which was shared to the social media app by a woman called Courtney Cates, we can see her little tabby kitten standing on the back of a sofa.
The pet lets out a little squeal and cocks its head before stepping forward and letting out a short sharp sound that is similar to a dog barking.

Text overlaying the cute video, which has been viewed a staggering 10 million times, reads: "Have you ever heard a cat try to bark?" alongside and emoji of cat's face laughing.
Since the clip, which can be watched here, was posted to the social media site on July 23, 2021, it has attracted more than 2.6 million likes and 50,000 shares.
Additionally, many people have rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts on the funny footage.
One TikTok user, G, wrote: "I literally jumped [laughing-face emoji] I wasn't expecting that at all."

Recently another cat went viral on TikTok due to its adorable friendship with a hamster.
In the clip, shared to the app by an account called Zeng_7999, we can see that the gray hamster is burrowed into the fur of a white cat.
A human hand then attempts to pull the small rodent away but it instantly scuttles back to snuggle against the cat.
The footage then cuts to the two snoozing together before finally, and rather remarkably, showing the feline licking the top of the hamster's head.
The sweet video is captioned with the hashtags: "#kitten #hamster #cute #funny #pet #catsoftiktok #cuteanimals."
Additionally, in the comments section, the pet owner revealed that the two are "good friends."
Newsweek has reached out to Cates to provide a comment on the video.
