Watch 'Star Wars: Episode IX' Trailer Livestream from Celebration in Chicago

The Star Wars: Episode IX trailer—and the upcoming film's full title—will likely debut at Star Wars: Celebration in Chicago on Friday, April 12. While the trailer will undoubtedly release online at approximately the same time, it will also be possible to livestream the full Episode IX panel from the Star Wars convention stage in Chicago.

Star Wars: Celebration is in Chicago from April 11 to Monday, April 15, at the McCormick Place convention center. The Star Wars: Episode IX panel will be held on the Celebration Stage in Wintrust Arena next door on April 12, at 11 a.m. CDT. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Episode IX director J.J. Abrams are scheduled to appear, with "plenty of surprises and special guests" also promised. This is exactly the same way the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi debuted at Star Wars: Celebration Orlando back in 2017. So how can you watch the livestream?

Live streaming from Star Wars: Celebration has been announced on the Star Wars official site. While the full live streaming schedule hasn't been announced, we expect the major panels, including those focusing on Episode IX and The Mandalorian, to be included among the events broadcast live. Could it possibly be coincidence that the livestream schedule begins April 12 at 11 a.m., just like the Episode IX panel?

While little official is known about Star Wars: Episode IX, an array of leaks and rumors leads us to believe we'll be catching up with the surviving members of the Resistance about a year after the events of The Last Jedi. With Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) firmly in charge of the First Order, we also expect to see the return of his fellow Knights of Ren. The trailer could also include looks at how Episode IX will fold in legacy characters like Lando Calrissian, or how it will honor General Leia actor Carrie Fisher, who died in 2016.

In addition to the first trailer, the panel will likely introduce new cast members, playing new Episode IX characters, to the stage, like Keri Russell, Naomi Ackie, Richard Grant and Billy Dee Williams. At the Last Jedi panel in Orlando, Kennedy and director Rian Johnson were joined on-stage by Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and even BB-8, so expect a similarly packed roster for the Episode IX panel.

While the Episode IX panel livestream will, presumably, reveal the full title for the new Star Wars and its first trailer, it's far from the only opportunity to catch footage from the Celebration convention. In addition to the official livestream schedule, there's also Lucasfilm's The Star Wars Show, which will broadcast live throughout Celebration, with their own LIVE! Stage on the convention floor.

The "Star Wars" release calendar is up in the air after "Star Wars: Episode IX" comes out Dec. 20, 2019. Lucasfilm
