When Will the 'Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War' Anime Air?

Tite Kubo's iconic manga series Bleach may have ended in 2016, but fans of the anime will finally get the chance to see the adaptation be completed.

The anime will continue where it left off in 2012 by adapting the "Thousand-Year Blood War" arc, the final storyline from the manga.

Here is everything you need to know about the adaptation and who has been announced to be appearing in it, so far.

In December 2021 it was announced that VIZ Media had landed the rights to the continuation of Bleach's anime series, and it has since been revealed that the new anime will premiere on Monday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m PT.

VIZ Media confirmed on Monday, October 3 that the anime will be available to stream on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will be simulcast to match its release in Japan, and the North American premiere for the anime will be held at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 8.

According to the anime's Japanese website, the show will be available to watch on multiple platforms including Hulu, Disney+ and Prime Video. It is not clear if viewers could use any of these three to watch the anime in North America.

Newsweek has contacted Viz Media representatives for further comment.

Kubo's manga ended in 2016 with 74 volumes in total, and the "Thousand-Year Blood War" charts volumes 55 to 74. The final episode of the anime's original run, Episode 366, ended before the arc even began.

The iconic franchise was adapted into an anime series which ran from 2004 to 2012, with the show ending before the manga's "Thousand-Year Blood War" arc was released.

The "Thousand-Year Blood War" arc sees Soul Reaper Ichigo Kurosaki and his fellows at the Soul Society go up against Yhwach, the father of all Quincies, and the Wandenreich.

Who Will Star in the English Dub for the 'Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War' Anime?

On Friday, September 30, Viz Media made an announcement on social media to confirm which voice actors would appear in the English dub, and fans of the anime will be familiar will all of them as they appeared in the original series.

Johnny Yong Bosch will once again voice Ichigo Kurosaki, while Michelle Ruff will return as Rukia Kuchiki, and Derek Stephen Prince will be back as Uryu Ishida.

Other voice actors expected to return include Stephanie Sheh as Orihime Inoue, Wally Wingert as Renji Abarai, and Doug Erholtz as Kisuke Urahara.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War premieres on Monday, October 10.
