In a new set of Avengers: Endgame posters revealed by Marvel Tuesday, fans finally got some solid answer on which of their favorite Marvel Universe characters are still with us. The posters features 32 Marvel heroes who are expected to make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame film. While all the posters feature stunning portraits and the phrase Avenge the Fallen, viewers will immediatley notice two distinct categories: black-and-white and color. Besides paving the way for an epic follow-up movie, Thanos' desire to purge the universe of half its inhabitants is rooted in both love and fear. According to "The Infinity Gauntlet," the comic on which some of Infinity War 's plot is based, Thanos is in love with Mistress Death and hopes to gain favor with her by wiping out half of all living things in the universe. In the movie, however, Thanos' plan to destroy half the universe was actually done to save it. During the film, the Avengers visit Thanos' home planet, Titan, and find it in ruins. Apparently there were not enough resources for the planet's vast population and war ensued. Not wanting to see the same thing happen again, Thanos devised a plan to purge half of the universe's inhabitants, thereby ensuring resources remained plentiful. Regular purgings would continue to take place every time the population became too large.
