Transfer News: Watch Naby Keita, Liverpool's New £48 Million Signing

Not wishing to be left behind in the craziest summer of transfers ever, Liverpool has got in on the action late in the summer.

On Tuesday morning Liverpool announced the signing of Naby Keita, the Guinea midfielder, from RB Leipzig for an initial £48 million ($62.2 million). Keita, 22, will arrive at Anfield next summer and will spend this season playing in the Bundesliga where he has made his name.

"I will become part of a project that excites me greatly," Keita told Liverpool's official website Tuesday.

"My commitment to RBL remains absolute for the remainder of my time at the club. Having my future resolved means I can now focus on helping RBL achieve great things this season.

"Until I join my new club, next summer, I will remain an interested supporter from a distance."

Liverpool had pursued Keita for much of this summer, with good reason. In Keita, Jurgen Klopp is buying a midfielder who fits his philosophy almost perfectly. Keita is a sublimely skilful presence in the center of the pitch, a player who can break through a defensive line with neat footwork and then release an invariably well-timed pass.

Perhaps most importantly for Klopp's system, Keita has the speed necessary to keep up with Liverpool's rapid counterattacks.
