Who is Eros the Titan? The Character Harry Styles Could Play in Marvel's 'The Eternals'

Harry Styles' fans are discovering the singer-turned-actor is making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in The Eternals.

After the world premiere was held in Los Angeles, California, some viewers at the screening revealed that Styles makes an appearance. What's more, sources also seemed to confirm he'd be playing the character Eros the Titan, aka Starfox.

Styles has appeared in a number of movie roles at this point but joining Marvel and The Eternals would mark his biggest on screen job to date.

While many Marvel superheroes are household names, many readers will be unfamiliar with Eros and his origins with the Marvel Comics.

Confirmation Harry Styles is in The Eternals

A lucky few have seen the final cut of The Eternals at the world premiere and have seemingly confirmed Styles is in the movie.

Twitter user @dpatt0 gave one of the clearest indications with his initial reaction to the movie. He called it a "rustic masterstroke from Chloe Zhao" the director.

He finished his brief review by saying "That post-credit scene will give people a watermelon sugar high" followed by the watermelon emoji.

#Eternals is another rustic masterstroke from Chloe Zhao! With a fun set of characters and pure sincerity, the MCU continues to evolve (watch out for Frances McDormand reprising her Nomadland role in pyjamas)! While the tweet contained a very clear reference to Styles and his hit song, many of the singer's fans replied in the comments, saying they hope he's not joking around.

Senior film writer for Variety, Matt Donnelly, also confirmed the news by tweeting not only confirmation that Styles appears, but also the character he'll play. He said: "Big reveal from #TheEternals premiere -- Harry Styles has joined the MCU as Eros, brother of Thanos."

There are differing reports appearing online however, as multiple viewers state that the preview screenings they saw had no post-credits scene.

Marvel have yet to confirm or deny whether Styles stars in The Eternals and whether he's joining the MCU.

Who is Eros in Marvel Comics?

The character Styles reportedly plays is called Eros, also known as Starfox, the brother of the villain Thanos.

Marvel's official bio of the character reads, "Eros grew up on Titan alongside his brother Thanos, embracing all the pleasures that life has to offer. He later becomes Starfox and an official member of the Avengers."

First introduced within the Marvel comic books in 1973, Eros has appeared as a member of the Eternals, the Avengers and the Dark Guardians within the comics.

His superpowers include super strength, flight and the psychic ability to control the emotions of others. Eros has shared many storylines with characters such Thanos, Gamorra, Nebula, Hela, Captain Marvel and She-Hulk.

Marvel say Eros is "an Eternal who loves life, adventure and romance, earning him the nickname Knave of Hearts."

His character has often been romantically involved with members of the opposite sex but has also received allegations of sexual assault within the comics.

The Eternals Cast on Harry Styles

Harry Styles has yet to comment on the rumors that he appears in The Eternals but the cast have been asked about it.

On August 12, Kit Harrington appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and was quizzed about the possibility of Styles appearing in the movie. In typical Marvel actor fashion, Harrington tried his best to remain tight-lipped. He said: "No idea. Unless I've been recast and he's playing my part, I've not a clue."

Fallon almost tripped Harrington up by asking if they ran into each other or if they did their scenes separately, to which he replied, "no comment."

The Eternals will release in movie theaters on Friday, November 5, 2021.
