Woman Carries Out Biting Attack on People at Nail Salon After Being Angered Over Pedicure

A woman in Newark, New Jersey, reportedly became outraged with the service at a nail salon and began biting people on the premises, including an employee, according to police.

According to NBC 10, the Newark Police Department stated that a woman, who reportedly has yet to be identified, went to Angel Nails Spa for a pedicure on June 23 and became enraged with the service. She began arguing with an employee before she allegedly bit that person's ear.

When a man in the salon attempted to intervene, she allegedly bit him on the arm as well. Then, as the woman ran outside, she allegedly grabbed another woman by the hair and hit her in the face.

The suspect then reportedly ran toward a nearby housing complex.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact Newark Police at their Crime Stopper tip line, 1-877-NWK-TIPS (695-8477)," NBC 10 stated.

Newsweek reached out to the Newark Police Department and the Angel Nails Spa for additional information but has yet to receive a response from either.

Recently, there have been other cases of customers resorting to violence over services at nail salons. At the end of May, a woman allegedly shot the owner of a nail salon in Houston, because she was unhappy with what she felt were overpriced services.

KPRC-TV reported that the suspect, 21-year-old Joana Vara, allegedly fought with the 42-year-old salon owner for a moment, and when he attempted to push her out of the store, she pulled a handgun and shot him.

Vara and her sister, who was also at the scene arguing with the owner, were arrested, and Vara was charged with aggravated assault.

The owner was reportedly in critical but stable condition. No update on his condition was available at press time.

In March, a nail salon was the scene of an attack as well; in that instance a woman got into a fight with another customer over wearing masks.

In a salon in Park Ridge, Illinois, an argument ensued when a young woman asked another customer, who was identified as Lidia Danciu, to wear her mask over her nose several times.

Danciu reportedly stood up and hit the woman in the face. She was charged with battery, and Fox 32 News reported that since the video posted on TikTok went viral, Danciu said that she has been receiving death threats as a result.

Nail salons appear to have been taking the brunt of mask confrontations during the coronavirus pandemic, as many other similar incidents have occurred in the past year.
