Woman's 'Criminal' Method of Eating a Burrito Sparks Furious Debate: 'Jail'
A woman's wild method of eating a burrito has sparked a furious debate online, with people branding her technique a "crime."
The photo of the half-eaten dish was shared to Reddit's Mildly Infuriating forum on Sunday by Mainstem_bronchus, where it amassed nearly 20,000 upvotes.
"My wife eats the filling out of her burritos with a fork, then eats the empty tortilla shell," her partner wrote in the post.

A burrito is a Mexican staple, along with tacos, quesadillas, fajitas and enchiladas.
The classic dish is summed up by Old el Paso, who said: "The Burrito is a soft, warm tortilla wrapped to contain a number of juicy fillings including rice, beans and chicken, beef or pork. The name 'burrito' translates to 'little donkey' because the folded end of the tortilla looks like a donkey's ear!
"Traditionally, Mexican burritos would include meat and refried beans, whilst in the U.S. they introduced a combination of extra ingredients including rice, salsa, beans, lettuce and meat."
Whatever filling you go for, it's widely accepted that the burrito is the perfect ergonomic shape to eat with your hands, making it ideal for street food or a grab-and-go snack, as no cutlery is required.
Which is why this woman's method of tucking into the food with a fork has divided opinion online and sparked quite the debate, with some people horrified by the method, while others were up for trying it out.
Auberginecassio thought: "I do this. Idk why. It's just... less messy. And the tortilla is great afterward. It's tortilla with the essence of burrito."
Cultural_Bother_5939 stated: "Your 'wife.' Is a war criminal."
SaltyTapeworm admitted: "This is honest to god one of the weirdest things I've seen another human do."
Theguywiththeface11 reckoned: "Definitely peculiar. It looks like a Chipotle Burrito so I'll let her logic slide... She's saving herself a mess for sure; and not having to pay extra for a side tortilla with a bowl."
C8h1On4Otwo claimed: "But it is really the best way to eat a burrito."
Seanessey said: "I'm pretty sure you can go to jail for that."
Hi_i_am_steve joked: "Call the burrito police. We have an infraction."
Slowasaspeedingsloth commented: "Thank you for making me feel less embarrassed because I... would totally do this."
AlbatrossSenior7107 theorized: "I actually can appreciate this. I love the tortilla with all the residue from the meat and topping. It's like a sauce. And I like eating the inside with the chips."
W3h45j asked: "Why not just get a bowl at that point? Or you know, nachos?"
Okaywhy10 stated: "That's a crime."
Careful_Violinist146 reckoned: "Absolute grounds for annulment."

While Dwbarry60 asked: "Were you aware of this prior to marriage?
To which Mainstem_bronchus replied: "It was not brought to my attention!"
Thursday, April 7, was National Burrito Day, designed to celebrate the popular dish which is now enjoyed all around the world. The dish first started being served in restaurants in the U.S. in California in the 1930s, according to website National Today.
"Burritos have changed over time. American burritos have many ingredients, while Mexican burritos are only filled with meat and beans," the site said.
But it seems there's more debate over how the humble dish should be eaten.
The site added: "The Mexican dish is a national favorite, and everyone likes their burrito a certain way—with beans, or meat, salsa, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, and vegetables. There's the debate on whether rice belongs in a burrito (we'll let you pick your own side of the argument)."
