Kairi Sane Thanks Fans, Colleagues Following Final WWE Appearance

After weeks of reports and rumors, WWE superstar Kairi Sane took to social media to thank fans and colleagues for her time in the promotion following her final appearance on Monday Night RAW.

Sane, whose final appearance on Monday Night RAW was a key point in the Sasha Banks and Asuka match for the RAW Women's Championship on Monday, wrote a heartfelt message to her followers saying, "My time in the NXT and WWE locker rooms was incredible. Everyone was kind, funny, and talented, so every day was full of happiness. Also, I was saved by the supportive staff behind the scenes. I will forever love & respect all these professionals I had the pleasure of working with."

Kairi continued, "I was able to accomplish so much in the last three years, but it wasn't because of my ability or my strength. It was because of all of the constant, warm support from the fans. I am so thankful I could meet you all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

In the closing sequence of Banks and Asuka's match, Kairi Sane was shown being tossed around backstage by the SmackDown Women's Champion, Bayley. Asuka, who had Banks defeated, was forced to choose whether to save her friend or win the match. The "Empress of Tomorrow" chose to save her friend and was counted out.

Rumors and reports circulated around Sane's status in the WWE for weeks, but PWInsider reported last week that the Monday Night RAW tapings on July 20 was the last in the company for the former NXT Women's Champion and that she will return to Japan.

Her last recorded match was against SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley last week in a bout in which Sane came out on top in a surprise victory. Following her final appearance, many wrestlers and fans took to social media with the hashtag #ThankYouKairi to show their appreciation.

Sane was signed to the WWE in March 2017 and won the first Mae Young Classic tournament, defeating Shayna Baszler in the Finals. Kairi would quickly become a fan-favorite in NXT and would defeat Baszler for the NXT Women's Championship at Takeover: Brooklyn IV in August 2018.

The Japanese native would lose the title back to Shayna Baszler at the all-women's show, Evolution in October of that year. She would remain at the top of the NXT Women's division until she was called up to SmackDown in April 2019 to partner with Asuka as The Kabuki Warriors.

The duo would capture the Women's Tag Team Championships in October from Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. They would hold onto the title until the first night of WrestleMania 36 when they lost the championships back to Bliss and Cross.

Injuries and booking decisions have relegated the "pirate princess" to a tag team wrestler and in the shadow of Asuka, but Kairi Sane made the best of every opportunity and remains a fan-favorite.
