The New York Yankees desperately need to add a starting pitcher this offseason. They've been connected to a lot of different stars in free agency and on the trade market, but they've yet to make a big move.
With a lot of the top pitchers seemingly too expensive for the Yankees to sign, they will likely need to turn to the trade block if they want to add an ace this winter. Fortunately for the Bronx Bombers, there are plenty of options available.
Alexander Wilson of Empire Sports Media predicted the Yankees would swing a trade with the Washington Nationals to acquire starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore this offseason.

"The Yankees need a starter, but they aren’t going to empty the farm for a rental and they weren’t going to overpay for a risky international arm (Tatsuya Imai is now with the Astros)," Wilson wrote. "This brings me to MacKenzie Gore of the Washington Nationals.
"Gore fits the 'Cashman Special' archetype perfectly: a talented player with elite underlying metrics who hasn’t quite put it all together yet. The 26-year-old lefty has two years of team control remaining, making him more than just a rental."
Gore is the perfect addition for the Yankees. He's still young and improving, but his talent also puts him near the top of practically any rotation in baseball.
He's also under team control for a few more seasons, so the Yankees wouldn't need to spend a lot of money on him for a few years.
But he's bound to be expensive to trade for. It would likely cost the Yankees a pitcher like Will Warren alongside other prospects. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Yankees part ways with multiple top 10 prospects in a trade for Gore. But a deal like that would be well worth the risk for the Bronx Bombers.
