Manchester United has had to wait and wait and wait some more for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but it appears the club may finally have landed its man.

The former Sweden striker, who retired from international football at the conclusion of his country’s disappointing UEFA Euro 2016 campaign, will sign for Jose Mourinho by the end of this week, according to a BBC report.

The 34-year-old has been out of contract since leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season, but will relish a chance to link up again with Mourinho, whom he worked under in 2008-09 at Inter Milan, becoming Serie A’s top goalscorer that year.

Ibrahimovic has starred in four other countries but has not yet played in the English Premier League.

He will become Mourinho’s second signing of the summer since the 53-year-old Portuguese took over from Louis Van Gaal in May, with Ivorian Eric Bailly having already joined from Villarreal.
