Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has called Manchester United a "small team" amid the Premier League team's protracted pursuit of Atletico player Antoine Griezmann.

United was reported last week to have agreed personal terms with Griezmann ahead of a summer transfer, but Cerezo's latest comments have cast doubt on that move.

"Manchester United? A small team..." Cerezo was quoted as saying by The Times. "I believe in the contracts that people sign, and that goes for [Atletico manager] Diego Simeone and Griezmann."

Griezmann signed a new contract with Atletico last summer that runs until 2021, with a reported release clause of £85.3 million ($107.1 million).
