Blast From the Past: Ford Adds Ranger Splash, Limited Edition Models for 2022

In 1993, Zach Morris and Kelly Kapowski were dating, Bill Clinton became President and the Colorado Rockies became Major League Baseball's newest franchise. That same year, the Ford Ranger Splash made its debut. Now, Splash is back.
For the 2022 model year, Ford will offer the Ranger Splash Package and Splash Limited Editions, taking design inspiration from the original Ranger Splash of the 90s.
"Ranger customers love to personalize their trucks – more than 80 percent customize their Ranger with an appearance package – and with Splash, we're giving them something exclusive," said Chad Callandar, Ford Ranger marketing manager. "Every few months, we're going to roll out another exterior color for Ranger that will be offered one time only and in very limited quantities."
The Splash Package will be available on all 2022 model year Rangers and add body-side orange and black graphics, matte black 18-inch 12-spoke wheels, orange grille nostrils and gloss black accents on the grille, bumpers, side mirror caps, wheel lip moldings and fender vents.
The interior gets a special treatment as well. Unique seats get orange contrast stitching and exclusive carbon grain with tuxedo stripes. The seats are leather-trimmed on Ranger Lariat. The steering wheel, gear shifter, and parking brake boot also get orange contrast stitching. Lariat models get orange accent stitching on front and rear armrests and on the dash top as well.

Buyers can add the Splash Package to Ranger models equipped with the FX2 or FX4 off-roading packages.
Ford plans to release Splash Limited Edition trucks every few months throughout the model year. Each will feature a one-time-only exterior paint color and the run will be limited to a few hundred deciles. The Splash - Snow Edition will be the first out of the gate.
The Ford Ranger has only been on sale for a few years in the U.S. but it is already a sales success story. However, its sales have not been able to match those of the segment-leading Toyota Tacoma and the Ranger faces new competition this year in the form of the redesigned 2022 Nissan Frontier
Ranger Splash Package will be available for SuperCrew models optioned in XLT and Lariat trim series. The cost is $1,495. Deliveries of the first Splash models will begin at the end of 2021.
Ranger is built at Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan.
