Cardi B Says She Hates Fame After Met Gala, Wishes to Be Stripper Again

Cardi B has complained that fame is a "curse," stating that she yearns to return to working as a stripper following controversy over her statements at a Met Gala afterparty on Monday night.

The "Up" rapper, 29, made her comments about fame after video footage circulated of her hosting Playboy's Boom Boom soirée, during which she made a joke onstage that some had interpreted online to be a quip about partygoers using cocaine.

In a clip shared across social media, Billie Eilish is seen looking at the stage and then referring to somebody as "weird" as she spoke to a friend, prompting a host of Twitter users to assume that she was referring to Cardi B.

As she stood on the stage, Cardi B told the crowd: "Tonight we're gonna have fun. Make sure you get y'all drinks, and make sure y'all get a little...," before running a finger along her nostrils and sniffing loudly.

Cardi B, real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, responded to the chatter by sharing a snippet of her voice chat with Eilish, during which the singer told her that what she was calling "weird" was, in fact, the sight of people grappling to take footage of the rap star.

Captioning the clip on Twitter, Cardi B wrote: "I hate the internet cause one, how do y'all turn one of the most lit parties into drama? Two, Ocean eyes is the song I cater to my daughter. Three, Billie is my f***in baby. Yesterday, from the met to the party, everything was drama free. Why do yall wanna turn everything into mess?"

Taking things further, the mother-of-two said in a video shared on her Instagram Stories that she wished to return to working as a stripper as she felt that fame has left her constantly feeling as though she's being sent to the principal's office.

"I really hate it," she said of fame in her video. "Let me tell y'all something. If you ever wish to be rich and famous, don't wish to be famous. Wish to be rich. Y'all seen me these last couple of days, you see I've been partying, going to the club with my f***ing friends, everything, blah, blah, blah.

"You've seen I've been in a good mood, but once I step out, once I start doing anything that will go on social media, it's always, always bad."

"I'm so sick of it. I hate it. Why me?" Cardi B continued. "I feel like God cursed me with fame. Dead a**. Dead f***ing a**. God really cursed me with fame."

"Fame is just like ... oh God ... I hate it here," she continued. "If I could click my f***ing feet three times and go back to f***ing 2013 when I was just a regular b***h dancing and making money every single night, that's where I wanna be. That's when I was me. Not even 2016. That's when I was me.

"This whole go by the book stuff, gotta watch what you say, gotta watch what you do, this is not me, bro. This is ridiculous. I don't understand how I always get in trouble. I feel like I'm always in trouble. I feel like I'm a celebrity that always be in the principal's office, bro."

Looking back on her school days, she continued: "Me, I was always that kid in school I'd be like, 'Today, I'ma behave good,' and for some reason you end up in trouble and you always end up in the principal or the supervisor's office.

"That's how I feel when it comes to fame. No matter what I do and how good I try to behave, I always end up in the principal's office. That's how I feel about fame, bro."

Cardi B deactivated her Twitter and Instagram accounts last month after getting into a spat with fans over her decision not to attend the Grammy Awards.
