'Confused' Golden Retriever at Ice Cream Shop Leaves Internet in Stitches

The internet can't get enough of a Golden Retriever's reaction to smoke from liquid nitrogen at an ice cream joint as he jumped and attempted to bite it in a viral clip.

The TikTok, captioned, "Homie even got his own ice cream #nitecreamery #slo #icecream #nitrogenicecream," has been viewed 6.8 million times and liked 1.3 million times since being posted on March 13.

Ice cream can be made by mixing in the ingredients with liquid nitrogen. The process creates a frozen ice cream treat via flash freezing. When the liquid nitrogen is added to the ice cream's ingredients, a smoke or fog can be seen.

According to Mashed, liquid nitrogen can be used to create numerous foods. However, it's essential to keep it away from the skin and eyes. Wearing gloves and goggles is an important step to ensure safety.

Fortune reported the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning against consuming liquid nitrogen in 2018 after some "life-threatening cases" cropped up. The FDA recommended, "consumers to avoid eating, drinking, or handling foods prepared using liquid nitrogen at point of sale and immediately before consumption, due to risk of injury."

The eight-second clip, posted by TikToker @eliizardbeth_, or Elizabeth, shared the viral moment to the delight of many fans. Music played as the dog's owner held the canine on a leash as they and a woman placed their order at Nite Creamery, an establishment that uses liquid nitrogen to make ice cream located in San Luis Obispo, California.

Smoke was spewing from the other end of the counter as the workers presumably made liquid nitrogen ice cream. The dog noticed the smoke immediately, and its reaction involved trying to bite the fog in the air a few times.

"The highlight of my day," the screen read in text overlay.

The dog even jumped up a couple of times as well, opening and closing its mouth in the smoky air. The canine's owner also seemed to notice the behavior before the video cut off.

Over 4,400 commenters have put in their two cents over the Golden Retriever's reaction to the liquid nitrogen at work, and some thought the dog was confused. "Oh to be a dog confused by smoke," a viewer said.

Some people had jokes over the viral moment. "He tried to catch the fog...But he 'mist,'" a TikToker wrote.

People theorized what the dog might be thinking when they encountered the smoke. "He probably thought the world was ending," a viewer joked.

Many viewers seemed to appreciate the dog's reaction. "Hahaha the fog is coming, the fog is coming," another TikToker said.

Others thought about what the meaning behind the dog's actions might be. "He's like, 'Must protect human from evil smoke,'" the viewer wrote. "What a good boy."

Another TikToker didn't hold back when they said, "Dogs are so stupid, I love it."

While some comments of appreciation included things like, "We don't deserve dogs," and "This is so cute."
