Dogs Dubbed 'Terrible Guests' After Running Out On Friend's Birthday Party

A dog being ditched by his furry friends on his birthday has the internet in stitches.

In a clip shared to TikTok by @finnyunleashed on October 4, Finny the golden doodle can be seen celebrating his 5th birthday with party hats, ice cream and two of his pooch pals.

However, his friends sped off as soon as the humans are done singing happy birthday, with the runaways earning the title of "terrible guests."

Luckily for Finny, TikTok users are angling for an invite to his shindig. At the time of writing, the post has received almost 37,000 likes and over 700 shares.

How Old Is Your Dog Really?

If you've ever wondered how old your dog is in "human years," then you're not alone. However, the commonly cited "seven dog years to one human year" line is a myth.

Like humans, dogs have three main stages—early life, middle age and later life. Early life is broken down into smaller stages starting with prenatal, followed by neonatal (from the day they are born to 12-13 days), socialization (21 to 84 days), and juvenile (12 to 52-104 weeks).

The juvenile stage is the longest and includes adolescence.

A dog is considered fully grown at age two, with seven years or older commonly classed as a dog's "senior years" although that can vary slightly by breed.

'Not One of Them Was Impressed'

In the video, Finny can be seen sitting at a dining room table with two of his canine companions. All three look festive in their party hats with their bowls of dog-friendly ice cream served on place mats.

Finny's owner and their (human) guests sing happy birthday to Finny, who looks very confused by all of the attention. At the end of the serenade, his two friends simultaneously hop off their chairs and run away, causing everyone to burst into laughter.

His owner Ryan Price said the party poopers are Finny's cousins, Mia and Bailey, who belong to his mom and sister.

"This was his first birthday party," Ryan, from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, told Newsweek.

"I think it will become an annual tradition! More fun for the humans than the dogs."

Along with his party and the doggy ice cream treat, Ryan said Finny also got to go on his favorite walk for his birthday.

TikTok users also found the footage hilarious, particularly Finny's confused little face.

"Poor baby" said Covidsafewitch.

"So confused" commented Theresa.

"I love how dogs get just as embarrassed as us," wrote Luke Fairley.

Nevertheless, they agreed his friends were rude to head off without evening trying the ice cream.

"Aww, his little face when his doggy pals left," said donnamarie380.

"He is devastated," joked RitaHalliday.

"The guy on the left really doesn't want to be there," commented user4635891193187.

While Go Fetch said: "Not one of them was impressed."

Finny isn't the only pup to have his birthday celebration go viral. Earlier this year, a cat birthday party—complete with "purrfaits"—had Reddit users in hysterics, while a video of a dog waiting for his friends to arrive for his "pawty" melted the internet's heart in March.
