The world of 'John Wick' is coming back to the big screen but it won't be Keanu Reeves who's the star of the show. Instead, Ana de Armas stars as Eve Macarro in "Ballerina," a new tale of revenge, and this time it isn't about a dog.

The trailer features a lot of what you would expect from any "John Wick" Film. Explosions, fire, axes, destructive car chases, fights to the death in dance clubs, and gun blasts to extremely sensitive areas. The "Ballerina" trailer also reveals that apparently, Keanu Reeves's John Wick isn't there to help Ana de Armas's hero, but to stop her.

Franchise stars Ian McShane ('Deadwood"), Lance Reddick ("The Wire"), and Anjelica Huston ("The Grifters") all make appearances in the trailer. We also get to see franchise newcomers Gabriel Byrne ("The Usual Suspects"), Norman Reedus ("The Walking Dead"), and Abraham Popoola ("The Rig").
Fans of the film series may recall in "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum," the titular hero visits The Director (Anjelica Huston) who has at her command a small group of ballerinas who double as assassins. Eve is one of these ballerinas, and in fact, her character appears in "Parabellum" played by Unity Phelan.
Speaking of "Parabellum," for fans confused about exactly how Keanu Reeves' John Wick appears in "Ballerina," the film takes place between the events of "Parabellum" and the more recent "John Wick: Chapter 4."
"Ballerina" isn't the first spinoff from the world of "John Wick." In 2023 "The Continental" streamed on Peacock, telling the story of how a younger version of Ian McShane's Winston takes control of the eponymous hotel. Controversial actor Mel Gibson starred as Cormac O'Connor, the hotel owner Winston wrestles control from.
The world of "John Wick" seems determined to expand, even though it may have to do so without the guy who made it huge in the first place - Keanu Reeves. Word recently dropped that a fifth "John Wick" film was in the works and that Reeves might not appear in it. Whether that means recasting the character or a new character taking on the role of the Baba Yaga, no one knows.
"Ballerina" is directed by Len Wiseman ("Underworld") and written by Shay Hatten ("Day Shift"). The film hits theaters on June 6.
