'Gran Turismo 7' Release Date and Time: When the PS5 Game Unlocks in the United States

Gran Turismo 7 debuts this week and is already garnering rave reviews.

Exclusive to PlayStation, the racing title is unquestionably a highlight from March's densely packed release schedule and will likely emerge as one of the biggest games of the whole year.

Although it is available on the older PlayStation 4 system, Gran Turismo 7 is best viewed as a showcase of what Sony's next-gen PS5 is truly capable of. It promises to deliver high-fidelity visuals, spectacular levels of detail and buttery smooth performance.

There will be a pair of different graphics settings for you to choose from. The Ray Tracing mode will focus on rendering more accurate simulations of light and how it interacts with surfaces (such as the hoods of cars or windshields). The other performance option will prioritize stable 60 frames-per-second gameplay. Whichever one you choose, you are guaranteed a visually spectacular experience.

Another exciting feature is the use of dynamic weather, which tracks real-world data to accurately depict the meteorological conditions of a given location. More specifically, it will look at the humidity, precipitation, time of day and cloud formations and then recreate those in-game. When it comes to rainfall, the moisture build-up on tracks will even affect vehicle handling and puddles will dry out in real time if it gets sunny.

If you are playing on PS5, you will also get to enjoy DualSense controller support, with haptic feedback vibrations simulating the feel of tires rolling against different surfaces and gearbox shifting.

On top of all this, you will also have access to a garage of more than 400 rides, split-screen multiplayer, a "Gran Turismo Café" campaign that shows you the ropes (and gives you brief history lessons on each car model and manufacturer) and the constantly updating Sports mode, which features rotating championship events. All in all, it's an enticing package.

What Time Does 'Gran Turismo 7' Unlock?

If you are itching to experience those features for yourself, you'll be pleased to know that the launch of Gran Turismo 7 is just around the corner and you can start preloading now.

The game will be released for PS5 and PS4 on Friday, March 4. It will unlock at the stroke of midnight, as is always the case with PlayStation exclusives.

As with the release of Elden Ring last week, this launch will be coordinated to your local time. Because of this, some territories will get access to Gran Turismo 7 earlier than others—Europe and Australia get to 12 a.m. long before the United States does.

How To Play 'Gran Turismo 7' Early

You can cheat the system a little by setting up a PlayStation Network account for New Zealand and adjusting your console's internal clock.

Once you've done that, purchase Gran Turismo 7 from the PlayStation Store in New Zealand dollars. You can then preload the game and access it 18 hours early.

The catch is that you will have to play on your New Zealand account from that point onwards, and it will be a little more expensive too. Still, if you're a die-hard Gran Turismo fan, this might all be worth it.

Gran Turismo 7 is exclusive to PS4 and PS5.
