Where To Find Miley Cyrus' Secret Cameo in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had five different credits and post-credits scenes, so it is not surprising if many Marvel fans chose not to sit through them all the first time they watched the film. Those who bailed early, however, missed a secret cameo from singer and actor Miley Cyrus.

This was revealed to the internet, as these sorts of things often are, on Twitter. After the fan page @MileyUpdates posted a tweet reading, "Who remembers Miley voicing 'Mainframe' in 'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2'?," both director James Gunn and Cyrus herself responded to the tweet, bringing it to wider attention.

Gunn responded "Me. Cc @MileyCyrus," while the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker responded "I miss u guys so much." with a robot emoji.

This is the reference to the line she says in the credits scene, which is the first of the five. Viewers can watch it from 02:08:40 in the Disney+ edition of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 or in the original tweet.

This cut scene teases the Ravagers, an intergalactic band of thieves, mercenaries and pirates. The scene starts with Sylvester Stallone's Stakar saying: "You know, it's a shame that it took the tragedy of losing Yondu to bring us all together again, but I think he would be proud knowing we're back as a team."

We then get to meet the six members of this team—Stakar, his wife Aleta (Michelle Yeoh), Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), the lizard-like sorcerer Krugarr, Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum), whose body is made of silicon crystals, and the robot Mainframe. Bar Mainframe, all of these characters have been members of the Guardians of the Galaxy at some point in the comic books.

Cyrus provides the voice of the robot, telling the team: "I miss you guys so much."

Though Cyrus' cameo was a secret to many, and her name does not appear in the credits of the movie, this is not the first time the Hannah Montana star's voice has been clocked in the movie.

An Entertainment Weekly guide to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post-credits scenes from 2017, for example, said: "If you're someone like me, who hasn't read 30-year-old Guardians of the Galaxy comics in a long time – you experienced this scene in the following way: WHOA, VING MOTHERF—ING RHAMES!!!! WHOA, MICHELLE MOTHERF—ING YEOH!!!...was that speaking machine Miley Cyrus?"

Per Gunn at the time, the idea for the Cyrus cameo came from watching her as a judge on The Voice. He told Buzzfeed News: "I find her funny and likable and sweet. I liked that she cared about the contestants. So I was like, I think she would be a funny person to have as a voice. So we contacted her, and she said yes. She came in and recorded, and she was a delight to work with."

Asked if the actor and singer would return as the character in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn said: "she knows that there's a chance that character may go on and become a bigger thing. That's a possibility...I'm excited by the possibility of doing more stuff with that particular set of characters."

Asked in the tweet thread about whether this was teasing a Ravager movie, Gunn replied: "All the post credits of Vol 2 are possibilities but not necessarily promises. They are all things I would like to see happen, but I certainly don't have the time to do them all myself. But I do love the idea of more Stakar & pals."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is streaming now on Disney+. Vol. 3 is set to be released in 2023.
