How to Clean Glass Shower Doors — DIY Hacks for a Pristine Bathroom

Nothing puts the finishing touches on a pristine, just-cleaned bathroom quite like a crystal clear glass shower door.

However, this effect can take up a lot of your time or seem near impossible to achieve—unless you have the inside knowledge.

Newsweek presents the essential guide on how to clean glass shower doors without smears or smudges, according to cleaning experts.

How to Clean Glass Shower Doors With Hard Water Stains

Mark Jankovich, the founder and CEO of environmentally friendly cleaning products Delphis Eco, suggests there are broadly two main steps to keeping your shower stain-free.

He told Newsweek: "First use a limescale remover to tackle hard water build up, leave for a few minutes, and rinse well. Then go in with a glass cleaner for a sparkling, non-streaky and smear-free finish."

Cleaning expert Becky Rapinchuk, known as Instagram's Clean Mama, believes in starting with a freshly washed shower and then maintaining this daily.

She told Newsweek: "Using a daily shower spray will make it easier to clean your glass shower doors and keep them clean all week long.

Start with a clean shower first and then continue using daily or after showers. If you deal with soap scum in the shower and/or find that weekly or bi-weekly cleaning isn't enough to keep your shower clean, you might want to add a daily shower spray to your cleaning regimen.

Rapinchuk said: "Weekly cleaning should be simple and effective enough to get most dirt, soap scum and to keep mold and mildew out of showers.

"The combination of the Daily Shower Spray along with a quick weekly scrub will keep your glass shower door sparkling.

For soap scum she recommends using a powder or paste to clean glass shower doors if necessary.

"Thoroughly wet the shower with all-purpose spray or water, sprinkle with baking soda and scrub the glass with a scrub brush. Rinse thoroughly and dry."
