'Jeopardy!': All the Guest Hosts Confirmed So Far

Jeopardy! has now aired its first episodes without Alex Trebek, who died last year aged 80 from pancreatic cancer. Ken Jennings, the man once named the Greatest of All Time player of the game show, has been the first guest host of the show, and started his run with an emotional tribute to the former host.

Jennings, however, is only hosting the show for a limited time, with the show's executive producer hinting that a number of interim hosts "from the Jeopardy! family" would be taking over in the coming months (per a statement released by Sony), as well as celebrity fans of the show. Katie Couric was first reported to be one of those, and another celebrity, and a former champion of the show, however, has confirmed that he will be a Jeopardy! guest host at some point this year.

Read on for all the confirmed guest hosts announced so far for Jeopardy! Newsweek will update this article as interim hosts are revealed.

The Jeopardy! GOAT, who has won over $4.5 million on the show so far, was the first person to take over from Trebek, after first becoming a consultant producer on the show and presenting some categories during Trebek's final run of episodes.

Jenning's run has been mired in controversy thanks to the re-emergence of some of his former tweets that some considered offensive plus his defense of his podcast co-host John 'Bean Dad' Roderick.

However, fans of the show were still moved by his first appearance when the quizmaster paid tribute to Trebek, saying: "You know, sharing this stage with Alex Trebek was one of the greatest honors of my life. Not many things in life are perfect, but Alex did this job pretty much perfectly for more than 36 years, and it was even better up close. We were dazzled by his intelligence, his charm, his grace—really, there's no other word for it."

The Green Bay Packers quarterback, who shocked many with his big $50,000 win on Celebrity Jeopardy! in 2015, is the second Jeopardy! host to be confirmed, with the host set to make his episodes after the NFL playoffs.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, the QB said: "One of my idols growing up was Alex Trebek...they're doing some guest hosting spots, and it's going to be released here pretty soon, but I have the opportunity to do one of those."

In early January, the Los Angeles Times reported that news anchor and Television Hall of Fame inductee Katie Couric will be the next guest host presiding over the Daily Double and the rest of the iconic game show board. Later in the month, she was confirmed by the show's makers, making her the first-ever female host of the show.

Couric, who co-founded the charity Stand Up to Cancer, followed Trebek's battle with cancer on her Twitter account. She last paid tribute to the host in March after Trebek gave a one-year update of his battle with cancer, writing, "We love you Alex!"

The comedy actor, best known for her roles on The Big Bang Theory and Blossom, and who is the star of the new sitcom Call Me Kat, will be the second woman to take on the role.

After the news was revealed, Bialik tweeted: "I'll take #DreamComeTrue for $500 please.

Couric will not be the only journalist taking a Jeopardy! guest host role. Bill Whitaker of 60 Minutes is also set for a turn. Like with all the other guest hosts, the show will make a donation to a charity of the hosts' choice equivalent to all the cumulative winnings won during his tenure after he has hosted.

Speaking to Deadline, the show's executive producer Mike Richards teased the upcoming line-up of guest hosts: "We will have a series of guest hosts throughout the spring." He said that some of these guest hosts will effectively be auditioning for the role of the full-time host, but that others will be, "big-name people who are not going to be considered for the role but they just love the show, love Alex and wanted to pay tribute."

UPDATE: This article was updated on Thursday, January 14 after Couric, Bialik and Whitaker were announced as guest hosts.
