'Kellyanne Kanye' Needs to 'Put the Phone Down' After Trump Tweets, Stephen Colbert Says

As two of Twitter's biggest characters erupted in a shower of love and 'dragon energy', Stephen Colbert took to his late show slot to give us his feelings on the Donald Trump—Kayne West bromance.

"Kanye is getting kinda political," Colbert said. "He tweeted 'my MAGA hat is signed' followed by 30 fire emojis. Now, that is fitting," Colbert added, "because that is how many times I would set that hat on fire."

With a successful musical career and fashion line already to his name, Colbert suggested West might be looking to hop into another line of work. "I think Kanye's lobbying for a job as Trump's new communication's director," he joked.

"He could just change his name to Kellyanne Kanye," Colbert said, referencing Trump's notorious surrogate Kellyanne Conway.

On Kanye's tweet referencing his and Trump's "dragon energy" and saying "we have the right to independent thought," Colbert agreed and added: "I independently think that Kanye has lost his mind."

"Donald Trump is your brother, it is true. I am your brother too," Colbert said, "and brother to brother, I just want to say: put the phone down." Then adding that he could have stopped with a tweet earlier in the day that just said "I'm nice at ping pong".

Trump response to Kanye's tweet was "an even stupider turn" in the mini-saga, Colbert said, saying it was a "total bro-fest" and people should "look for their new album: Yeezy & Sleezy."

The show even mocked up an idea of what that album's cover could look like, showing Trump wearing a side-facing MAGA hat.
